82. EXPLODE & (ANYTHING) (from waves only) Starting formation - (From
waves only) - Any 4-dancer ocean wave. Everyone releases handholds, steps
forward and turns a quarter in (90 degrees) to face the adjacent dancer, and does
the (anything) call (e.g., right & Left Thru, Star Thru, etc.).
The dancers should have had Explode the Wave at least two classes before getting this call. Review Explode the Wave a couple times in the preceeding tips/classes to set up a "body memory".
In the teach tip for Explode and ___ I will then call something like
Heads Square Thru
All step to a Wave
Do the first 3 parts of Explode the Wave (release hands, step forward, quarter
in) Now do a Right & Left Thru
Then tell them that doing the first 3 parts of Explode the Wave followed by
another call has the name "Explode and " whatever the following call is. We
just did "Explode and Right & Left Thru". I tell them that in general dancing
they are most likely to get the calls:
Explode and Right & Left Thru
Explode and Square Thru
Explode and Touch 1/4
Explode and Star (or Slide) Thru
At workshops and DBD sessions anything that can be done from facing
dancers orfacing pairs of dancers is possible.
Then I call something like:
Pass the Ocean
Explode AND ...
Right & Left Thru
Pass Thru
Bend the Line
Pass the Ocean
Explode AND ...
Slide Thru
Swing Thru
Pause here to note that ends and centers have switched places and so
the quarter in goes the other way than before Explode AND ... (If I have to,
mention "We should all be in lines facing in")
Star Thru
Trade By
Swing Thru
Explode AND ... (If I have to, mention "We should all be in lines facing in")
Touch 1/4
Column Circulate 2 times
W/Right Hinge
Pause here to note that we are in a Tidal (Grand) Ocean Wave things
will feel alittle different
Explode AND ...
Right & Left Thru
Clap your Hands
Allemande Left Promenade Home
They will dance it some more to get more dance time at it and review
as I seethey need it. NOTE: for the first couple weeks I will
emphasize the AND to catch their attention.
