TIMING: 4 steps.

When I teach this move, I will get them into a double pass thru position. I will point out that we call this a double pass thru position. I will tell them that we are learning a new move, and tell them the definition. I will tell them, that the dancer that is behind someone else, will start "passing" later, so the leaders will have to take another step after they have passed two shoulders. I will tell the dancers that are trailing, to say "I'M THERE" after they have passed the second shoulder. I tell them, that we are only going to say that tonight, because the leaders cannot see behind them to see when to stop. I will then ask for the trailers to identify themselves, to make sure they understand me.

I will walk them through, reminding them to pass right shoulders. I'll tell them to keep going till the trailing dancers pass right shoulders with two dancers. I will then tell them that we call this position, a completed double pass thru, and this is where the move ends.

Now I will have everyone do a U-Turn Back. I'll have them do a double pass thru again. I will "cue" to them the first few times. I will make sure that each dancer does the leading part, and the trailing part. Also I will be sure that each one starts as a right hand dancer, as well as a left hand dancer.

I will use a variety of ways to get into the DPT position. I will also be sure to use a variety of moves following this call. With things like: first couple go left and second couple go right, leaders trade, leaders U-Turn Back, all face right, and so on, there is no reason to make the dancers form a habit or anticipate.

A fun thing I like to do, is call first couple go left and second couple go right, a few times. Then call it as first couple go left and second couple go left, and Promenade. It gets some smiles, and reminds the dancers to listen.
