75. COORDINATE: Starting formation -Columns. All dancers Single File Circulate once and a half. The center six (three adjacent pairs) Trade (turn 180 degrees). The very center two dancers release hand holds and walk diagonally outward to the end of the forming lines. The two lonesome dancers walk ahead, moving in a quarter circle, to become the other ends of the forming lines.

Teaching Method:

Put the dancers in Columns. It is suggested that this call should be first taught with a boy in #4 position, a girl in #3 position, a boy in #2 position, and a girl in #1 position. This is accomplished by normal BGBG facing lines, then Touch 1/4. Tell the dancers what they are going to do before they move. The caller can read the definition to the dancers if needed. Tell the dancers that they are going to Single File Circulate once and a half. But first have them circulate one position. Explain to the out facing dancers (now #1 is a boy) that if he circulated another position, he would be standing where the girl is on his right. Ask those boys to find a spot that is half way between them and the girl. This is where 1/2 Circulate is. It is difficult to explain to the other 6 dancers what a half Circulate is for them. So it best to tell them to 1/2 circulate. Point out to them that now there are two boys with right hands joined. There are two sets of girls with right hands joined. These are the six persons that will Trade. Have those six dancers to trade. Ask the boys to find the back of the nearest girl. Tell them to move up to the left side of that girl. “You have just completed a Coordinate.”

Teaching hints: If the caller just Bends the Line after the first walk through, then Touch 1/4 the girls will be rotated into different places, BUT the boys will still be doing the same action. If the teacher wants to have all the dancers in a different position in the column, the boys must be Circulated on position before the Bend the Line.

#2 Hint. While they are in Columns, have the #4 dancer in each line to find each other. Tell them that they must get together right handed. This will almost force the other two pair to connect.

#3 Hint. Watch for dancers not Trading.
