The DoSiDos provided an opportunity for Plus program square dancers to dance each week at a time during daylight hours. The dances were aimed at retired, experienced square dancers, and especially retired dancers who found it inconvenient to drive at night to evening square dances. The group was started by caller Manny Amor in 1998 and danced originally at the Eatontown Mall location. The dances were then moved to the Freehold Senior Center. In 2011 the group moved back to the SCAN location in Eatontown. After Manny's death later in 2011, Gardner Patton took on the calling responsibilities. Eventually the group found it hard to attaract new dancers who were available during the day. After a year where most dances had to be canceled because there would not be a square of dancers, dances were discontinued on November 19, 2014.
Do-Si-Dos is a Plus Program, square dance group dancing at the Monmouth Mall SCAN Center in Eatontown, NJ. The group meets most Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:30 (see schedule below for exact dates). The caller is Gardner Patton. If you are a Plus Program dancer please come and join us. No partner required and dress is casual.
Directions: Take Exit 105 on the Garden State Parkway and go East on Rt. 36 through 3 lights. The Mall entrance is on the right. Once their, look for the mall light post 21. Park near the lightpost and go through the nearest doors into the Mall and down the stairs that are straight ahead. When you get to the bottom of the stairs the door to SCAN is on the left.
